I’m a pickup nut first and foremost, but I’ve always been passionate about amps, particularly Standels, as their best examples rival the best classics, and only remain obscure on our collective “tone radar” because the originals are so obscure themselves.
I’ve moonlighted making Standel-inspired amps since 2006, with the intention of capturing the elusive sound, but now I offer truly custom versions that capture the look as well, with my own spin, for those who want something truly unique.
I offer two models that represent what I believe to be the best amps that Standel made, and are drawn from amps in my collection, with my own Standel-inspired tweaks to dial them in for today’s tastes. Pedigree aside, one listen and I think you’ll agree that these are great sounds that can hang with the best classics.
